The month of September is Hunger Action Month with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee.

Hunger Action Month is a nationwide campaign created to raise awareness and take action of food insecurity in our community.

Just in East Tennessee there are 202,560 people who are at-risk of hunger and unsure of where their next meal will come from. – 1 in 6 total children (44,860)

On average, 188,260 neighbors are served monthly, and Food For Kids provides 651,384 annually!

We decided we want to help and work towards the goal of eliminating food insecurity!

How YOU can help us:

Come to our building during the weekdays in September anytime between 9 AM – 5:30 PM to drop off items for Hunger Action Month!

In our front office, we will have a Second Harvest box available for you to place your donations in.

September 10th is the official day of Hunger Action Day; you can wear the color orange on this day, as it represents the national color for hunger relief.

Items to donate:

• Peanut Butter

• Canned Proteins

• Canned Fruits

• Soups

• Staples (rice, dry beans, dry pasta, cereal)

• NO GLASS CONTAINERS

• Hygiene products
