For 14 years the Oak Ridge boys’ and girls’ basketball team has kept their “Creating Christmas Memories” program going.
The Wildcats raise money each year to take children in need shopping at Walmart for Christmas.
The children shop for toys, clothes, and other products from Walmart.
This Sunday (Dec. 17th) the Wildcats did their annual Creating Christmas Memories program.
When the Wildcats boy’s head coach, Aaron Green started 10 years ago he came up with ‘Creating Christmas Memories.’
“I get pretty emotional,” Green said. “You don’t really know how many kids don’t have anything this time of year. There was once a kid who had $100 and spent $60 to $70 of it on socks and underwear for his little brother,” he said.
Both the boys’ and girl’s teams raised enough money for nearly 50 kids to spend $100 each. During the holiday season.
